Butt-weld and forged pipe fittings

Butt-weld elbows, tees and reducers to B16.9; forged socket-weld and threaded fittings to B16.11.

Forged socket weld and threaded pipe fittings

Overview

Fittings join, turn, branch and reduce piping. Butt-weld fittings to ASME B16.9 match the pipe wall and are used on process and pipeline systems 2" and above; forged socket-weld and threaded fittings to ASME B16.11 in Class 3000, 6000 and 9000 cover small-bore lines.

AM Enterprises supplies both ranges from Dubai stock: 45° and 90° long- and short-radius elbows, equal and reducing tees, concentric and eccentric reducers, caps, stub ends, couplings, unions, bushings, plugs, swage nipples and olets. Materials match our pipe range, so a complete bill of materials can be supplied from one source with consistent certification.

Fittings are marked with heat number, grade and size, and shipped with EN 10204 3.1 certificates traceable to the raw material.

Typical applications

  • Refinery and petrochemical process piping
  • Pipeline bends, tees and reducers
  • Steam and boiler piping (chrome-moly)
  • Small-bore instrument and utility piping
  • Fertilizer and chemical plant piping
  • Water, fire-water and HVAC systems

Frequently asked questions

Long radius or short radius elbow?

Long radius (1.5 × nominal diameter) is the default for process piping and gives lower pressure drop. Short radius (1 × D) is used only where space is restricted.

What class should forged fittings be?

Class 3000 for Sch 80 socket-weld or Sch 80 threaded pipe, Class 6000 for Sch 160, and Class 9000 for XXS pipe, so the fitting bore matches the pipe.

Can fittings and pipe be supplied from the same heat?

Not usually, but we supply matching grades and full 3.1 traceability for each item, which satisfies most project specifications.
